When an animal is sold a Luck-money is given and it is called "Luck". It is so calculated on the price of the animal sold or if they buying is a friend of the sellers a good "Luck-penny" as it is sometimes called is given.
When a bargain is made the parties show their agreement by striking hands or shaking hands. I never heard that spitting was used only when the "Luck" money was given, the receiver generally spat on it.
Animals are marked with blue, a piece of mud or with a cut of a scissors on the left hind portion of the animal's back.
When an animal is sold the halter is never given away. It is always retained.
