- The people had a great many cures in the olden times. They used soap and sugar for a boil. First they got the soap and cut it into small slices. Then they got the sugar and mixed it with the soap and warmed the two of them together in a sauce. When they were warm they were rubbed to a piece of cloth and placed on the boil while warm.
A cobweb was said to be a cure to stop blood. Another cure to stop blood is a dockleaf. Sorrel and the white of an egg is a cure for sore eyes.
