  1. There was a man living near Killarney who had an otter. He fed it from his own hand. One day a landgrabber walked up to the house and said "Give me your land" you have no right to it" "If I have not you will not get it." "Is that so" said the landgrabber and walked off. Every night the man put ten stone weights on top of the otters's cage. He named the otter Spit-fire. One night when Spitfire was lying hot and snug in his cage in the haggard his trained ears heard a slight sound of footsteps on the path. Putting up his head with all his strength he knocked off the cover. Creeping to the house
