- About 5 miles to the east of the school there is a place called The City. People go there from miles away to do "rounds" on May Day.There is a holy well well dedicated they say to Saint Crobhdhearg a sister of Saint Gobnait of Ballyvarney.Long ago cattle used be brought to the well to be cured of any disease they had. One night there was a bullock stolen from the well. While the owner way away he was stolen. The following day the print of the bullock's hoof and of a walking stick was found on a stone on the mountain pass called Siugadui[?] between the city and Claoideach[?] The prints are to be seen there yet.
