- Churning is done for the purpose of getting butter. Before churning the milk is stored in crocks. Every morning and night some of the milk is added to the crock. It remains there until it is thick. Then it is churned.
We have a churn at home. It is a dash-churn and is three and a half feet high. It is one and three quarter feet wide at the top, and one and a half feet wide in the bottom. It twenty years old. It is round in shape. A churn is made up of three parts namely the bottom, the sides and the lid. There is a hole in the lid of the churn so that the handle of the churn-dash can go up and down.
