The story properly begins, with the erection of the ancient Augustinian monastery of Mullandoy on the shores of our beautiful lake; and with the pig which according to tradition, swam accross from Concra to Mullandoy to point out to Saint Maeldoid (of the O'Hanrattys) that there was the spot where the enemy of man and swine had no power. At any rate, there the Saint built his church, the ruins and graveyard of which still remain. It is one of the oldest known Christian burial-places(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
