- St. Ann is the patron Saint of this (Ture, Clones) [?] district. A Church under her patronage still exists. There are people in the district called after her.
- Towards the close of St. Patrick's life there has been one who laid the foundations of Christian Clones, and who has ever since been hailed as the patron saint of the town and district. This was St. Tighernach. The name is derived from the Irish word meaning lord, and is represented by the modern name Tierney. His mother was of the royal race Oriel and his father was a lienster chieftain. This will explain how it happened that he was baptised by Bishop Conleath of Kildare, and how St. Brigid acted as sponsor. Like many of the scholars of the period, he studied in Wales or Southern Scotland, and having been ordained there he went on a pilgrimage to Rome where is said to have received from the Pope relics of the Apostles - S.S.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
