I often heard my grandfather, Eward McGettrick, say that about the year 1833 there was a snow-fall in the beginning of January that lasted seven weeks. There were several people lost during that snow-storm. We lost six sheep, a horse and a "yearling" calf. In 1917 there was such a snow-storm that the snow had to be cut with hay knives to clean the roads to get to the town. it was very hard to get to the grave-yards.
