- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Pedlars and Ray men still visit this district. The various coins in current use are :-. a tanner 6d, a bob 1s and a kids eye 3d. The four shilling piece and the fourpenny bit are now gone out of date.
- In olden times most of the small dwelling houses were called "mud wall cabins". The roof was thatched with straw and sometimes rushes. In those houses there was always a bed in the kitchen called a settle bed. This was always placed at the back wall. The fireplace was always at the gable wall. The front of the chimney was made of clay and wattles. Some of these chimneys are still to be seen in this district. The floors were always made of yellow clay. Half-doors are very common in this district. Coal was always burned and the only light the people had was rush lights and later on home made candles.
