    well. She promised to do as he asked. The little man then disappeared. The well was opened shortly after but it was not guarded as the little man wished. All went well for a few months and they were delighted to have the water so near. One day one of his cattle fell into the well and was drowned. This annoyed the man so he closed up the well. After this misfortune came his way a lot of his stock sickened and died. His wife also fell into bad health and after some years the man had to sell his farm and leave the district.
