  1. The fairies had a row of forts from Clones on through Relan and Dundrummond and on to Tydvnet. A row of horses used to go along from fort to fort every night. If you were going to build a house along the line you had to put down four sticks the night before. If they were tossed they were on the fairy path and you would have to build some where else. If you built there you would have all kinds of bad luck. The principal fort they had was at Crockcor near Tydavnit. A freind of mine long ago was a fiddler and when he was going out for the cows he used to take the fiddle with him. One night he met a little man and he asked him would he play for a dance on the fort that night he said he would and he came saw a great number of boys and girls all dancing he looked around and found himself in a great castle. He started to play and he was greatly entertained and the dance continues to near cock crowing time in the morning. Near the end they had a collection and got a lot of money. Then the same little man came to him and asked him to come back some other night
