B. The owner of this public house was a man name Maurice OHerlihy. He was a teetotaller. A man who used to frequent his public house asked him to "stand" him a drink one day when he was feeling sick. at first the publican refused, but in being appealed to again, he said he would do so if the man composed a piece of poetry in which the final word would be O'Herlihy (Ó hIarfhlatha) The man succeeded in doing this and got the much - needed drink. The following is the verse he composed:-A Mhuiris is mó pinginn a chuireas fé iadhadh Dhia do ghlais
Agus tú ag seasamh sa doras agus do ghrath ar craic.
Do sheidfainn an druimfionn, an bainfionn agus an riobhach chun cnuic,
(?) ní ólfainn uisce ar nós Mhuiris Uí hIarfhlatha.- Collector
