  2. In olden times people made everything they wanted for their own use at home.
    Baskets
    The trade of making baskets is still carried on, but long ago when they had to draw everything in baskets, when there were no roads, the people used to spend the long winter nights making baskets of twigs and strong ropes rods.
    Ropes
    They also made ropes of "fionán" [?] grew along the hillsides. This they [?] with what they called a "crusicin" [?some] of which are still to be seen in many country homes. The people also used bog deal for the making of ropes which they secured their cocks of
