- About 3/4 of a mile outside the town of Celbridge there stands a large building which is now a boarding school named "The Collegiate School".
There is an avenue of Lime trees from the Entrance Gates to the School and to the east of this avenue the ground slopes steeply through groups of trees and equally steeply it rises to an old lime-kiln which looks like the ruins of a castle.
This school was built in the time of the Famine in Ireland when men worked for 1 1/2d a day. The ground was at that time owned by Lady L. Connolly.
