   They brought him before the King and he was sentenced to be hanged. Now the King's carpenter was after making a grand new dray and Jack was going to be hanged out of the shafts of the dray. Just as the rope was being put round his neck the Queen of the fairies tipped him on the shoulder and said. "Have you a little red cap in your pocket?". Jack said he had and the Queen told him to say the words after her -

   "Pick up all the crumbs.
   Touch nothing with your thumbs.
   Put your hand to your cap.
   And fly over to Ireland".

   Jack arose, dray and all and
