  1. The following story was related to us in school by one of the pupils - Agnes Higgins - she said it was told to her by a Mrs Bailey residing in Cloonlough and is now ninty-four years old.
Years ago she said she was coming home late at night from the shoe-maker who lived in the bog - about a mile from her home, as she came near her own home she met a number of little men one of them had a white horse and he said to her "If you don't cough till you reach your home you can have this white horse and I will mind it". On reaching her home she coughed accidently. She been so frightened went to be as soon as she came home and was wakened up from sleep by a tapping at her bedroom window, it was the little man whom she met that night. He said to her you will never get me or my white horse, but if you come out tomorrow night we will give you a chance, but she did'ent go out
