Long ago when the people intended to make a skib they would first cut the rods, and then let them dry and harden for a month.
They would get eight strong rods about two feet long, and split holes in the centre of four of them and drove the other four through the holes. They wove the lighter rods round them keeping the eight rods an equal distances apart, until the eight rods were all woven round about. Then the bottom was done.
Next they got sixteen weak rods and drove them one on each side of the eight rods they had already woven. They then turned them up and tied them together and wove around them for about four inches. Then the skib was made.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
