    Games of all kinds were the order of the night with the object of keeping the young people indoors.
    In one house where the old tradition was kept up till about 30 years ago the custom was -
    A feast of boxty was made specially all visitors partaking of it.
    Later in the night a sweet cake containing the ring was divided up.
    Games played were
    1. Kissing the hob. The players stood as far as possible from the fire and putting hands behind the back leaned forward to kiss the hob.
    2. Three saucers were put on the table, one containing clean water, one containing dirty water and one with soil. Each person was blindfolded and went forward, putting their hand into whichever saucer they reached.
    Clean water signified marriage.
    Dirty water signified a spinster or bachelor.
    The soil signified the death of the person
    all which fates were to occur before the next Nov. night.
