The house in Cauriesh is occupied by Patrick Roche and his family and is the most inaccessible place in the school district.
These two townlands were once very well populated. There were twenty-four houses in the Coolracom district and somewhat more in Cauriesh.
Many of the old families were evicted but of others it was said they put the key under the doorstep and went off to America. They tell of one man named Pender who rode the last horse he had into Waterford, sold it there, and went off on the boat.
An old man named Jack Kiely told us a few years ago that he remembered seeing fields of flax growing there and it is probable that it is from flax heckling the district got its name.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
