- Crowbally is situated about a half mile to the South East of Castlegannon School. The Irish name for Crowbally is Baile Crú. Some say that it got its name from the little cow houses that were in the village. Others say that it got its name from "Baile Cruaí which means the town of the hard land. It consists of a number of farmers'[ houses There are the remains of an old castle there but nobody knows anything about it.
