    On Saint Stephen's Day men and boys dress up a bush with ribbons and flowers and they have a dead wren tied in the bush. They dress in all sorts of costumes and go around to the doors collecting money. They sing the wren song as follows,
    The wren wren the king of all birds.
    On Saint Stephen's day she was caught in the furze.
    Although she is little her honour is great
    Get up land-lady and give us a treat.
    Up with the kettle and down with the pan.
    Give us our answer and let us be gone.
