A steward was coming from the bank in Thomastown with money to pay the work men their wages and for fear of meeting Franey on the road, he put the notes in his inside pocket and had a small bag of coppers tied to the saddle of the horse he was riding.
   Franey held him up on the road a short distance from the town and told him to give him the money. He mad an earnest appeal to be let go on his way but all of no use. At last he consented and threw the bag of coppers down a cliff where he met the robber.
