It so happened one day when he was out begging the wheel of the cart fell off. He got into a terrible fix because he could not put on the wheel.
Suddenly he looked around and saw a fairy man lying in the ditch.
"Will you please help me to put on this sir" said the man. "No!" said the fairy "because when you are praying you don't pray for me so now I won't help you."
So the man said three Hail Marys in his own mind. And when he looked again the wheel was on and the fairy vanished.
