There are no fairy forts in our school district, but there are fairy forts in Uskerty two miles past Castle Comer. There are four in adjoining townlands and they are all in view of one another. They are all circular in shape and there is an embankment of stone and earth around them and also a grove of very ancient bushes.
There is an entrance hole in one of them and not long ago a man went to cut a bush and he got a prod of a thorn and within a week the finger had to be taken off and he lost the use of another.
In olden times when the Danes were in Ireland they were supposed to have built Raths as places of abode. Old people used tell tales that they were abode of fairies.
Music was heard on various nights in one of them and it is said that it still exists and on many occasions people used(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
