- In the townsland of Ballydonnel there are several fairy forts. These are locally called raths.
They are all circular, surrounded by low earthen fences on which trees grow. In the centre of the largest rath there is a small mound. A tiny tree grows on it at the root of which there is a large stone. Under this stone there is said to be an entrance to the mound but the stone has never been removed. In Winter the mound is encircled by water.
Stories connected with the raths are few. In one there is a small hay-stack. It is said that the owner of the land placed it there many years ago the rath being convenient to his cattle-field. He(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
