- There is only one forge in our parish. Ned Lyng is the smith. He is a smith for a good many years. It is not near a crossroad. It is a fairly big forge and is not very high. It has a roof made of timber. The door is not of any special shape, but it is square like any door. There are two fireplaces in it. The smith shoes horses and asses. He makes farm implements such as shovels, pikes and axes etc. He puts the shoes on out in the open air in the summer in the yard. He uses a hammer and an knife and a poker, and an iron at his work. He owns the forge himself and he does a great lot of work in it. There's no one only himself in it. It is not near a stream. It has two windows, one in the front, and one in the back.
