   He lived with them for a long time and thought it was the nicest place ever he saw, till at last they left him back safe and sound. One time a woman had a very small baby in a cradle and when she got it put to sleep she had to go to the well along the roadside near Clonavilla bridge.

   When she was away the fairies took her child and left another in its place. When she came back the child was sitting up in the cradle playing a french-fiddle. She noticed it the moment she entered the kitchen door; but she was puzzled for she did not know what to do with it.

   There was a great blazing fire on, so she pulled the baby out of the cradle and flung it in the fire. However it got escaping without a burn. But the woman was surprised where her own child went. She ran out of the house and went to look for the child. She looked every-where but it was all in vain, for the fairies for the fairies had
