- Penal Times in Naas
St.David's Church - once belonged to the Catholics, but when the Penal Laws were in force the church was given for the use of the Protestants. It is still in the hands of the Naas Protestants. It is a very old church, built in the time of St.Patrick.
Priests - they used to celebrate mass on the Hill of the Leacain.
Hedge-schools - generally, in Penal days, school was held in old barns, but there were a few hedge ones. They were held in the open air, on the Hill of Leacain. The teachers were supported by the people who used to give them food and lodging. Arithmetic, reading and writing were taught in the hedge-schools. Writitng was done on slates.- Bailitheoir
