- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)Just beside the Castle stood until a few years ago a very pretty two storied cottage with a thatched roof.
The farm surrounding the cottage and castle are now owned by a Mr Large a Protestant whose father purchased it from a Mr Duncan another Protestant about 50 years ago.
This family of Larges resided in the thatched cottage for some years but left to reside elsewhere. It is said they were much troubled by an enormous black dog that used to come into one of the bedrooms at night and lie at the foot of one of the beds. This same black dog used to be seen at night fall to leave the Castle and enter the cottage through the hall door whether it was open or closed.
During the Barrow Drainage operations, which commenced in the Summer of 1925, the castle was used for a long time as a shelter for workmen, whose duty was to mind the dams and to keep the enormous rafts on which the dredgers were placed afloat.
