- There is a cave in Carter's (John) field which is beside one of Peter Moore's Castleconnor.
It is in the side of a hill and at the bottom of it, there is a little stream running towards the river. The entrance to this cave is now closed. Some years ago some persons tried to get into it but failed. Thee are supposed to be forearms or implements of war in it.
After the World War (1914-18) some soldiers are supposed to have gone into it for safety. It is said that they never came out. Their fire arms are supposed to be there still also. The story goes that the "Good People" lived in it long ago.
Michael Thorpe Castleconnor owner of Peter Moore's House then, is said to have sat on a rock looking at millions of the "Good People" riding on horse-back into this cave. He also told the story that when coming from Gurteen one night he saw a funeral coming out of this cave and going down towards the river. Other persons sat these "Good People" dancing and heard beautiful music coming from the direction of Baureigh.- Bailitheoir
