- Some time ago an old man was ploughing in a field in Granstown. He stripped a small flag and he lifted it up. Underneath was a square boxshaped piece of masonry filled with small shells. Taking a spade which he had with him on the plough he lifted them out and threw them around. He went away and when he came back he found that the shells had disappeared. The small flag which covered the treasure is still in the possession of Mr. Whelan of Middlemount, whose uncle was the person who uncovered the treasure.
