- Nail-making
Mr. Thomas Wallis made nails in Oxpark Lane out of nail-rod with some implement which enabled him to produce as many as two or three in five minutes. The nail-rod was imported from England until the manufacture of boot-nails by mass production. The nail-making continued until Mr. Wallis' death five or six years ago. Mr. Donoughue made nails and coffins. He lived in Shannon Street.Barrel and churn-making
Mr. Ducey [?] who resided in Church Street where M. Little now lives, made barrels, butter-coolers, butter-pools, car wheels and old dash-churns. He was a cooper by trade.Woollen Factories
