There is not so much wood growing in this district now, as there was in olden times. There was a big wood in the townland of Lyonstown about ten years ago, but it was all cut down for fire-stuff, and for making carts and anything else that would be needed. There is only one big wood called Thompson's wood now, in this district. This wood is situated about halfway between Bridgecartron, and the town of Boyle. It is about three miles from Bridgecartron School. There are all sorts of trees growing in it. This wood is so called, because it belongs to a man whose name is Thompson.
There is one beautiful lake called Lough Key in(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
