"In Patrick's Well there used to dwell
A trout so plump and fine.
That in a dish you could not wish
A nicer fish to dine.
Of Boyle the pride both far and wide,
Its people loved to tell
Of the blessed trout that swam about,
So long in Patrick's Well.II
An English fool, thought rather cool,
He'd eat what others spared
So with many a boast he tried to roast
One fish that he had snared.
Before his eyes, the fish he fries.
And where he could not tell,
Till he saw, no doubt, the roasted trout
Again in Patrick's Well.III
Unsatisfied, again he tried
The fish once more to catch.
But well he knew his deepest rue,
He found he met his match.
Till sad and sore, at length he swore,
no matter what befell.
That he'd fish out the roasted trout
That lives ion Patrick's Well.IV
When the people guessed what was his quest
Their anger knew no bounds(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
