    Local Cures
    In Ireland about a century ago doctors were not as numerous as now-a-days therefore the people themselves made up cures from herbs and various other things.
    The cure for the slamnan is to get ten gooseberry thorns and point nine of them to the eye and throw the tenth one into the fire. This is done on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday fasting and at the end of the week it will be cured.
