    Moyburg, sometimes by the royal O'Conors of Ballintubber, and more (ofter) often by the English in their various campaigns in Connaught.
    The Mac Costellos were staunch patriots and fought bravely against the Binghams and other English commanders down to the Jacobean Wars, and the flight of the Wild Geese to France. After its destruction by Red Hugh, they seem to have finally abandoned Castlemore and lived chiefly in Tallaghan and Edmonstown. But the memory of great chiefs and great heroes of the clan, notably of Tummous Laidir (Thomas the Strong) and of Dudley the Rapparee, still lingers about and lends an aroma of romance, poetry and patriotic tragedy to the venerable ruins.
