- In former times the fairs were held in country places at cross-roads and at farm houses. This is not done now because there are fair - greens near every town. Fairs were held in all the small towns long ago but those fairs are discontinued.
Sometimes the fairs were held in the streets of some towns.
It is an old custom to give luck money when a person buys an animal. When a bargain was made the party showed their agreement by striking hands and sometimes by spitting out. When animals were sold long ago they were marked with mud on the back or clipped on the side with a scissors.- Bailitheoir
