- Long ago in a village called Corlis an old man named Patrick Mulrooney died. He was living in a small little cabin with his wife. There was one small window and a small hole to get in and out in it. There was no door in it.The night he died all the neighbours came in . There was a man going to the fair out of the village. As he was passing by Mulrooney's he said to himself that he'd frighten all who were inside. He stole into the house and looked in the little hole. The dead man was laid out just inside the hole. The man put in his hand and caught a hold of his foot and shook it. When all who were inside saw the dead man stirring they were frightened and began to roar. They were afraid to go out in the hole and they were not able to go out any other place. After a while this man came in and made known to them that it was himself was shaking the dead man's foot.
