made their teeth sound this bread they baked on the hearthstone. Potatoes, buttermilk, and herrings once in a time was the best they had.
The ruins of an old house is still to be seen in this village. A large flag was taken from there and is now in a stable belonging to John Tiernan. When this flag was removed from the old house where it was used as a hearth stone underneath it was a deep hole containing sheep bones it appears the sheep were stolen killed and eaten and the bones hidden beneath the flag. The ruins of this house are in Bally-daly County Roscommon.
