- There are forts in many places in this district. and they all go by the name ''fort''.
There are two forts in Ballybeg, Strokestown and they are within view of each other.
Those forts are elevated circular shaped bits of land surrounded by trees. In years gone by the trees were very closed together and there was only one entrance gap. Now some of the trees have decayed and fallen down leaving many gaps.
It is not known who built those forts or (w) for what purpose they were built.
