the word went around that Paddy's ghost was coming so needless to say all cleared into the chapel. Just as Paddy was going in the gate he met the priest who asked him why he was running. Paddie said he thought he would be late as he saw everyone else running. He told the priest then that he had been away for some time at the fairs.
He heard Mass but a great deal of the people were very nervous. They cleared away out of the Chapel before Mass was over.
Paddy then went home to Mary who when she heard the strange news advised Micky to run away home of Paddy would kill him.
No one told him the yard for long and long after. When they did Paddy laughed loud and heartily at the whole joke.
