In this district there is a lake called "Lough Bó Finne." This proves that the white cow visited this place. - Mermaids were supposed to have been seen near the sea in years gone by. One day two fishermen saw a mermaid near Chapel Island. She had long hair reaching to her waist and had a sort of clothing of weeds resembling an apron. She followed the boat some distance, but was unable to speak only grunt, and was very cross looking.
