    When the Diocese of Cloyne was joined on to this diocese of Ross we had occassionally priests bearing unusual names one of whom was a Fr. Beausang.

There was no bridge, nor is there today, only stepping stones, and as she was bare-footed it presented no difficulty to her.To have gone around by road would have meant a matter of at least 4 miles. The priest was ready to come with her and as the river was in flood he said he would walk around. She pointed out the loss of time and wanting to try one of her practical jokes volunteered to take the priest over the stepping stones on her back. With some reluctance he consented and when nearing mid-stream, she gave herself a shake that almost dislodged his reverence. He cautioned her to be more careful, but soon again she did the same. This made the priest angry and addressing her again he said "bhuel, tá an diabhal ort".
    "An diabhal an eadh", ar sise, " má tá, ní bheidh sé orm ibhfad".
    And so saying she shook him off right
