  1. All the houses are whitewashed for Christmas and decorated with holly.
    On Christmas night all the family are present when the oldest man lights the pound candles that are placed in the windows by the woman of the house. While lighting the candle he blesses himself, geneflects, and then says "that we may all be alive this time twelve months." Then he blesses the house with holy water.
    Christmas night the people put a big block of wood in the fire and it is called block na Nodlag.
    Straw is put outside the door Christmas night and the door is let open. The candle in the kitchen is also let lighting and a big fire is put down to comfort Our Lady and the Divine Infant to make up for their hospitality in Bethlehem.
    Most of the people have two suppers Christmas night potatoes and fish at six o clock and tea at ten o clock.
    On Christmas day all the people remain in their own houses.
    On St. Stephen's Day the boys get a holly bush
