- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)If swans fly exactly over your house it is a sign that someone in the house will die.
A whistling woman,
And a crowing hen,
There's no luck
In the house they are in.
A crowing hen is supposed to be a bad omen. People bring her to the mearing of three townlands and throw her there and say "all the bad luck go with you".
If a cock crows twelve times at night it is a sign someone will die.
Hen's manure and cats hair mixed together is supposed to bring good luck if carried about with one.
