- Long long ago there were people living in Ballinamona called Rooneys. They had two lime kilns one which they called the round lime kiln and the other which they called the deep elder kiln. They called it this because it was very deep and there was a big elder tree growing at the side of it. When the Rooney's were all dead but one man he would not stay in the house with himself and so he sold the land and Willie Beades bought it. Willie Beades did not burn any lime in the kilns and so they are like holes in the ground now.
