Carraig a' Mhadra = The Dog Rock or the Perch. This rock has been the finishing place of many ships.
Carraig na Madraí = small dangerous breakers near the Dog Rock
The South Coast has many names for its strands and points like:-Traigh na Leach:-the strand of the Flag Stones because the strand is full of these fine flag-stones.
Cuas na dTarbhmany farm animals were lost off this cliff and that is the reason for its name
