- The most harmful weeds in our farm at home are, crow-foot, and chick-weed. I don't know their names in Irish but their names in English are crow-foot and chick-weed. These weeds are harmful and they are very disaggreeable when the farmer is digging potatoes. The most reason that they are harmful is because they spread greatly and impoverish the soil.
There are certain plants looked upon as growing where land is good, such as the dandelion and the thistle. The plant that is to be found in poor land is the nettle. The dock leaf will cure a sting of a nettle if it is put on immediately.
Thistles and dock-leafs serve as food for plenty of animals especially the horse and ass.- Bailitheoir
