    The bear was so tired looking that Fred begged the man to let him go. The man let him go and Fred gave him a handful of silver. On his way to town he put his hand in his pocket to see how much was left, but not a cent had he in it.
    When night came Fred stole in under the window where the gold was kept in the Kings palace. Fred took two pieces of the gold and was about to get out under the window when he tripped over some object. The guards wakened with the noise and caught Fred. They put him in a cell until morning.
    In the morning he was put in a box in which a loaf and a bottle was placed and flung into a lake. He was there about an hour when he heard the lock of the box drop into the lake. He then opened the lid and to his surprise what did he see but the little mouse he had saved in the town. He then looked behind and saw
