- Partridge is very common in my district especially in the bog and in long weathered grass. These birds does not migrate like some of the other birds. The partridge builds her nest in long grass. Other birds build their nests in walls or on tree tops.
The Partridge lays four or five eggs. She stays about three weeks on the eggs hatching them. She makes her nest with grass and moss and the eggs are big. It is said that when certain birds fly near the ground it is a sign of rain and also when they are to be heard crying loud at night.
It is said that how the robin got the red breast was when our Lord was crowned with the thorns the robin went to pull them out and a drop of blood fell on his breast. Ever since the robin has a red breast.- Bailitheoir
